OT: A couple of time correct pieces to go with my 604Ds

A nice Lafayette LT-81c tubey FM tuner and a Pilot 240 integrated amp. Now all I need is a late 50s, early 60s turntable to go with them. Any recommendations?

Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

EDIT: Whenever I see someone's vintage tuner (like yours) or vintage radio I'm reminded of the Twilight Zone episode where the vintage radio still picks up all the old radio shows.....

No deals on Thorens 124s. The word is out. Garrard 301s and 401s are like gold.

I think finding something from '58-64ish might be tough. I could be wrong, but it was thought back then that TTs didn't affect sound too much. Most were kind of an after thought. By the 70s that all changed.

And wait, you mean I can't get all those cool old radio stations on this tuner?

Nice vintage Tuner and Amp you have there!

Anyways, the Garrard 301, Thorens TD 124 MKI or MKII, Lenco L75, or the Rek-O-Kut models (Rondine, 33H, etc) will eat that Empire turntable alive, guaranteed! Been there, done that. Invest once, then you will not worry about upgrading later. I would suggest a Garrard 301 (even oil bearing as grease bearing fitted for oil bearing slots on schedule 2 301's can be bought on Ebay) with your favorite 12" arm. Game over!

Thanks Abe. 301s are just silly overpriced. I'll keep my eye out for a nice L75 that I can soup up. I have a woodshop and would enjoy making a nice plinth for it. Maybe baltic birch.

    I was watching this 301:

Vintage Garrard Model 301 Grease Bearing Turntable | eBay

And from what I gathered, it was a bargain. Too much.

I ended up getting an AR XA:

    34

Recently serviced with new motor, springs, RCA plugs, cartridge and stylus. And it's the right vintage...1961.
